Evil Ronald is at it again, and this time he's recruited the help of his heinous friends in a new comic, Ronald Kills Birdie. This clever comic would be hilarious if it weren't horrifyingly true.
Birdie, Ronald's old McDonaldland friend, quickly learns that there is no such thing as a "Happy Meal" under the golden arches.
PETA plans to distribute the "Ronald Kills Birdie" comic (download as a PDF) at McDonald's playgrounds.
This short story is just a glimpse into the short and miserable life of chickens killed for McDonald's. McDonald's suppliers allow chickens to suffer some of the worst abuses, including broken wings and bones. After being hung up by their legs in mettle shackles, they have their throats cut while they are still conscious. Those are the lucky ones.
Many birds who escape the blade face an agonizing death when they are dunked into tanks filled with boiling hot water, known as "defeathering tanks."
McDonald's has the power to end this suffering by requiring their suppliers to switch to a less-cruel method of slaughter known as "controlled-atmosphere killing" (CAK), a method approved by its own animal welfare council.
Use the button below to contact McDonald's and urge the company to implement CAK now. Then check back next week for the next strip from the series!
